Rhipsalis

Rhipsalis is native to Central and Southern America and is the only type of cactus to be found outside of the Western Hemisphere. It is an epiphytic which means that it naturally grows on and around trees in the rainforest. Its name derives from the Ancient Greek word for “wickerwork,” referencing the plant’s form. This is a low maintenance and hardy plant making it perfect for both homes and offices.

Rhipsalis enjoys indirect light as well as a couple of hours of morning and evening light. In terms of watering, as it is a cactus it is sensitive to overwatering so only water when the top layer of soil feel dry to the touch. Aim for moist but not soggy soil. This plant will let you know when it is thirsty because the leaves will lose their rigidity. It is an easy plant, perfect for a home, office, bathroom or kitchen.
